Giro d’Italia Middelburg

Unfortunately I’m nearing the end of the semester which means papers, exams and presentations galore. This  meant that i had to miss many of the festivities in Middelburg and i would have liked to have presented a more complete picture of the Giro in Middelburg. None the less right after class i raced to the first section of the course which wasn’t full with people and waited for the bikers to come. Luckily i had a pretty decent location (by that i mean it wasn’t too busy)  considering the amount of time i could spend waiting. The Giro apparently pulled in 75,000 spectators which is quite significant considering Middelburg itself only has about 35,000 inhabitants.

Personally i know very little about the Giro so I’m afraid I’m not sure who specifically is in the pictures I took. I believe that the guy in the pink jersey is Cadel Evans who after loosing time due to a crash had to give up the pink jersey. Following that is a picture of the two riders in the lead where i was standing which was not more than a few kilometers to the finish.

I do have to mention that this was one of the tougher things I’ve photographed. The bikers just came around a turn were on a slight incline and were at the end of the stage and they still zoomed by me and focusing quick enough especially when they are coming straight for you becomes difficult.
